What do YOU think?

A few months ago we showed you the current progress of our bedroom with the "Lewis Elm" shelf (go here for a reminder). I'm itching for another project to work on, and thought I should finally tackle the one I've been putting off for almost a year: re-painting our hand-me-down nightstands. I really love most of our bedroom, or I guess you could say the "middle section." The sides? Not so much. In fact, you could say I hate them. It's the clashing brown wood, the dated hardware, and the "blah" lamps. So I'm going to take this situation into my own hands.

This is where you guys come into play. I cannot for the life of me decide on a color to paint the nightstands. Perhaps this is why I have waited so long. But I know y'all have some really great taste out there, and I am in need of your opinions! Should I paint them...

Black, like all the rest of the furniture in the room...
Gray, to match the pillows/sheets
Yellow, to coordinate with the accent pillows and flower (and heck, we all know I love yellow furniture)
Another random pop of color, like a turquoise/blue, green, orange?
Another shade of stained wood?
Polka dotted?

Really guys, I'm at a loss. I'm excited to get this project going, and these little old stands are in need of some T.L.C.

P.S. When I originally posted about the shelf, some of you had asked about the flowers. They are from World Market. Aren't they awesome? They add just the right element of "floral," without being, well, floral.

I vote white. Only because I think crisp white furniture is very versatile, and I think it would look nice against your bedspread. Then you could have your pops of color in accessories. I'm sure whatever color you choose, it will be awesome.

I love what you've done with the room. My bedroom hopefully isn't too far behind yours. :)

I say YELLOW! How fun would they be in yellow? If you want to be a little more practical though, and don't want to commit your bedroom to yellow for life, maybe grey or white. I say pass on black...too much matchy-matchy can be boring! Whatever you do, I'm sure it will be cute though.

I'm thinking red or green. Or maybe just another wood stain, and new knobs. Of course black or white would look nice, but I say go for another pop of color. I just barely saw some cheap, cute lamps at Target that would work great as well. You have such good taste, so I know you'll do what will look best! Good luck.

p.s. I have the same yellow pillows. :)

If you are thinking blue, I think Tiffany's blue could look really cool especially with some fun gray/silver nobs on the dresser. You have a lot of the white right there with the bed and then you can dress up the lampshades with some yellow fabric to match the pillows. It kinda depends on how much color you want in the room though... black wouldn't add color but would bring out the other hints of black you have in the room. The molding at the top looks like it could be some fun detail that might be fun to accentuate or just do white and add some colored nobs...

I still vote grey with massive, graphic yellow knobs. You could also do some sort of collage or large print on the tops(I would use grey and white) to add some spunk and interest. With something bold on top the classy, clean, white lamps will look even more fabulous!

OK. So I read all of those comments and not one of them is the same?! How are you going to decide? I don't know what color you should pick. They all sounded really cute! I'll get back to you on this one, but I was leaning toward grey, maybe with a cool knob color? Decisions, decisions. Hmmm...

Burn it all down. Grab Russ and move to Rome and live in hammocks. Then invite us to visit. Yay!

What! You are tired of my nightstands! I mean, come on, I think they are about as old as you! All the suggestions have merit--good ideas from good friends. I kind of like the idea of a color other than white or black. Also, remember that paint is fairly cheap, so if you hate them, you can repaint. My favorite response is Lindsay's! That's not a bad idea. . . but Rome is a lot farther away than Texas!

Oh Camille take a look at the blog All Things Thrifty! I have done what she recommends with the primer and spray paint I even have the glaze she recommends! If you lived here I would let you use it!!! I would buy the spray paint brand she recommends IT IS FANTASTIC and SO CHEAP! I refinished a high chair and it turned out SO GOOD, also Lucy's headboard. So if you are going to do them a different color I recommend doing it the way she does. I can't wait to see what you decide. Also Anthropologie has MY FAVORITE knobs...check them out.

k, so i'll give my opinion i guess... I think you should paint them BLACK! haha... i'm the only one, i know! my reasoning is because i think it would look classy to have all the furniture painted black, but also because if you painted them a really bright color the nightstands might end up standing out way more than the rest of the stuff in the room... since your other decor is chic and subtle and isn't some screaming color or anything. Anyways, that's what I would do if it were me, but I also know that i'm probably more boring than the rest of world when it comes to style! haha.
Also, I love your pillows and flowers, as well as your yellow desk you blogged about earlier. super cute!

if you figure it out, I want to see! I agree with really cute knobs, whatever you decide! I am going to redo our bedroom furniture hopefully this summer too, so I need ideas!
